Nil Berlin – Sudanese Takeout
Nil – Sudanese Takeout
Very unexpectedly, in the
middle of the Boxhagener Kiez, you will find “Nil”. A real gem, when it comes to street food. This
Sudanese takeout is very vegan-friendly, even though the menu also satisfies omnivorous guests.
Especially noteworthy is the hospitality and friendly communication with the guests. Most of the time
you will be able to meet the owner, who by now operates 3 stores, in the first ever Nil. Frequently,
you will also see his son frying the Tyamias (the Sudanese falafel variation), or serving Sudanese
coffee.
The Bestseller – the “Fohl”-Sandwich – consists of tamiyas, delicious broad beans, a creamy peanut
sauce and lots of fresh salad. The filled flat bread, that costs € 3, can be, in good weather, enjoyed
at the small table outside of the store.
For those of you who have a bit more time, there is the “Vegan mixed platter”, a large mixed platter
with cassava fries and salad. Add to the real Sudanese experience and also order one of the daily
changing freshly made beverages.
Over the last years the peanut sauce developed into a real customer favourite and is now also available in jars – why not take the real Sudanese feeling home with you?
