Haus der Kulturen der Welt
John-Foster-Dulles-Allee 10, 10557 Berlin, Deutschland
Close to the Bundeskanzleramtes, which is also known as ‚washing machine‘
by the general public, you will find the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (short HKW). The exhibition of
contemporary arts focus primarily on productions from all over the world, especially the

media and scientific discourses is unique in Europe. The Architectural centre and landmark of
western modernity is the Congress Hall.

Reichstagsgebäude
Platz der Republik 1, 11011 Berlin, Deutschland
At the Republic square you will see the Reichstag building, the permanent
seat of the German Bundestag. The impressive complex reflects an eventful history. Built 120 years
ago the building was deeply affected by the Reichstag fire in 1933, and the 2nd world war. After
its modernization, it was even more fundamentally transformed between 1991 and 1999. The biggest
attraction today is the glass dome that is open for visitors, with its two spiral designed path on
the interior that lead to the observation deck.
Reichstagsufer
Reichstagsufer, 10117 Berlin, Deutschland
From the most famous building on the bank of the Reichstag, we are now
heading towards the Schiffbauerdamm. The road on the right bank of the Spree River goes along the
Weidendammer bridge and the Reinhardtstraße. The street name refers to the existence of numerous
former ship yards. From the shipbuilding era, only the name remains. But many imposing buildings
still line the street.

Hackescher Markt
Hackescher Markt 1, 10178 Berlin, Deutschland
The Hackesche market at the southern end of the Rosenthaler Straße is a
busy place and a perfect start to the Berlin night life. Numerous restaurants, cafés and bars,
invite you to a quick visit in the brick halls of the grade II listed station. A visit to the
Hackesche Höfe is really worthwhile. It depicts the countries‘ largest closed courtyard area, and
after the renovation in the 1990s, it became an exciting the tourist attraction.

Urania-Weltzeituhr
Alexanderplatz 1, 10178 Berlin, Deutschland
The Urania world time clock, built in 1969, is one of the most famous
buildings in former East Berlin, and is also the end of this route. Overall the clock measures 31
feet, showing 148 city names on its rotunda. Since its erection it has become a popular meeting
place for both tourists and locals. Its mechanism is constructed from the converted gears and ball
bearings of a Trabant car.
A tip as a reward
After exploring Berlin’s Centre we recommend a light Asian snack in the Sonu in the
Karl-Liebknecht-Straße near the world clock.
