I take a cup of coffee in the “Faustus“. Here modern German cuisine combined with small French accents (Tarte Flambée) awaits the hungry. When you are not hungry, at least take the time to have a look at the menu of the week, it might change your mind!
An evening on the Kurfürstendamm, Berlin
Shopping and night life location in one
Kurfürstendamm – during the day it’s a shopping area for shopaholics. But in the evening it becomes the ‘place to be’ with its exceptional restaurants, lively bars, cool clubs and cosy pubs. Spend a night with me in „Ku’damm“!
The Wittenbergplatz – the Kurfürstendamm takes of here
If the Berlin evening air is illuminated by bright, warm light and enthusiastic applause overtakes
the sound of the fountain, you are probably on the Wittenbergplatz. The area behind the Kaufhaus des
Westens (KaDeWe) is a popular place for fire artists who conjure up wonderful figures of light during
their fire shows, spread warmth, and bring the magic of fire closer to the people. The Breitscheidplatz lies in the Charlottenburg district between the
Kurfürstendamm, Budapester Straße and the Tauentzienstraße (City West). The
Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche is world famous. The eastern end adjoins the Europa-Center with
the Weltkugelbrunnen (Water balls). The Europa Centre is
perfect for a feast. Lovers of the down to earth German cuisine should try the „Kartoffelkiste“.
People from Bayern and poorly informed tourists can be found in the “Bavarian”,
serving typical Bavarian food. Which by the way, is also perfectly suited for a feast. Just as the
Kurfürstendamm fulfills all the wishes of the city lover, the Halensee meets the needs of quiet
and nature-loving people. The Kurfürstendamm ends at the Rathenauplatz.
Breitscheidplatz
Breitscheidplatz, 10789 Berlin, Deutschland
Further along the Tauentzienstraße, Berlin presents itself as a world metropolis, not only because
of the Weltkugelbrunnens. Tourists look at the Europa Center, or listen to a choir concert in the
Gedächtniskirche. From my own experience, the Breitscheidplatz is a great place to sit in the
square, to drink a beer and listen to the street musicians.
The Breitscheidplatz is a famous marketplace. At Christmas time, countless people are on the road
enjoying the incense smokers, toffee apples and Christmas decorations. In the spring, summer and
autumn, the place belongs to the tourists and locals who sit here together, talking, laughing and
enjoying life. Picture: Schrottie, CC BY-NC-SA 2.0.
The show kitchen in the „Daitokai“is always fascinating. The Chef prepares some
of the dishes live at the table of the guests. A dining experience par excellence! Even the sushi
here tastes great.
The finest ingredients, gently cooked, blend the unique aesthetics of Japanese eating culture into
a culinary work of art. Do you love sushi or Tempura? Then you will be thrilled when the Chef
prepares the “Teppan-yaki” with artistic skill before your eyes – a visit to a
DAITOKAI restaurant is always unforgettable.
Standing on the green roundabout is the sculpture of the “2 concrete Cadillacs in form of
the naked Maja” by Wolf Vostell. It represents the impermanence of the automotive
world.
I recommend ending the Kurfürstendamm tour in „Ku’damm Beach“. The cocktails and
delicious food will recharge you, and you can review your impressions of the Ku’ dam tour
once again.
The Ku’damm Beach offers not only delicious cocktails, wines and soft drinks, but also
delicious grilled fish and meat specialities. But the highlight is the long sandy beach at the
Halensee, and 3 platforms which extend into the water. Picture: Edson Hong, CC BY-NC-ND 2.0.
