A symbol for this is the East Side Gallery opposite the O2 world, where you can take a walk along and view the incredible images that jump out at you; the brother Kiss between Brezhnev and Honecker, the statue of liberty, peace doves, surrealist images… a variety of art styles, moods and themes are waiting for the interested walker. Especially at night when the art works have a particularly impressive effect.
An evening… in Berlin East
From the East Side Gallery to Domaquarée
Anticipation is in the air when leaving the O2 World Berlin. The Alba Berlin basketball game was a good start, exciting and exhilarating at the same time. But the night promises much more. Adventure and relaxation are awaiting courageous explorers, and I follow their call.
The East Side Gallery – Special Street art
Who doesn’t love freedom? The freedom to think, to travel and to stay. The stone opposite stood
for many years in Berlin: the Berlin wall. Today, the people of Berlin live in freedom in a united
city, a metropolis of the world, a magic magnet. The unique works of art ends at the East railway station. Here children
walk on their hands throughout the day at the Cabuwazi Circus, and at night, young people test the
resilience of their eardrums in the Fritz Club. Today I fancy spare ribs, and you can enjoy the
best in the PLAY OFF even in the late hours. The summary of the basketball game
flickers across the screen; after all, this is an American sports bar. I can only smile and be
glad that I was there.

The Alexanderplatz – the most famous square in Berlin
I take the metro to the Alexanderplatz square. Width and height are what makes the “Alex”
stand out. From the world clock I have an impressive view of the entire square. The splashing of the
Neptune fountain doesn’t even stop at night, and the Red Town Hall is widely visible thanks to intense
lighting. The vitality is
palpable in the MIO, directly under the tower. No matter whether visitors opt for
the restaurant, the bar-lounge or the Club, in the Mio you are very close to the vibrant life of
Berlin. Stylish elegance and excellent service distinguishes the Mio, and along with its timeless
charm, it is very popular with all generations. I treat myself to a wonderfully fruity-sour
cocktail called “MIO special“.
Also, the term “Nightlife” is taken literally. Berlin does not sleep, certainly not at the
Alexanderplatz. Photographing tourists and party going locals mingle together in a way that blurs all
boundaries and prejudices. It is different from the East Side Gallery, but no less impressive, and
demonstrates the value freedom and community have in this city.
The DomAquarée – Adventure and culinary delights
If you can tear yourself away, you can have even more amazing experiences in East Berlin. At night, the beauty of the sea and its inhabitants is especially
wonderful to see in the DomAquarée, the atrium of the Radisson Blu hotel. In the so-called
AquaDom, approximately 1,500 different species of fish swim in 1,000,000 litres of salt water. An
impressive and very stylish atmosphere – blue makes happy!

Another highlight in the DomAquarée is the range of restaurants. From burgers (Andy’s Diner & bar) to Italian cuisine (Trattoria Peretti) – everything is represented here.
I’m hungry again and find what I’m looking for in the Shi-Mai with its fantastic light Asian cuisine, and where the fish dishes are particularly noteworthy. I take the Liberty! Filled with many pleasant experiences, it’s now time to go back to bed.
