Cupcake – Berlin
Cupcake –Sweet Sins from the USA
Still room for dessert after the delicious meal in
“Goura Pakora”, or do you just fancy something sweet? Directly across the road you will
find the pretty little shop called “Cupcake”.
Everything your vegan sweet tooth wishes for is available here – home-made cupcakes, luscious
chocolate brownies, comforting apple-pie, delicious banana bread… and these are just examples of
the great variety of baked goods on offer. Some of the goodies are even gluten-free!
You can either enjoy these sweet little treats directly in the 50’s style store or take them with you
for on the way. In nice weather, when you manage to find a free table, you should enjoy your cupcake
in front of the store on the small terrace. Also have one of the coffee or tea specialities (of course
available with soya milk) to accompany your chosen delicacy.
“Cupcake”, opened in 2007 by born and bred American Chef Dawn Nelson, is Germany’s first real
Cupcake-Shop. The evidence that these cupcakes are true American originals, is indicated by the
“frosting” (the component that differentiates cupcakes from muffins). This creamy goodness, consisting
of whipped vegan butter or vegan cream cheese, is a treat in itself, but definitely worth the
indulgence.
By the way, even Katie Holmes has feasted here several times while shooting a film in Berlin, so make
sure to try it for yourself. The price of a vegan cupcake is currently 2,80 €. Enjoy!
