  • Annual General Meeting approves all agenda items
  • Dividend distribution resolved for the first time

Nuremberg, 25 June 2009 - The Annual General Meeting of AG, one of the world’s leading online hotel reservation services, held today in Nuremberg approved all agenda items with large majorities, thus also endorsing the proposal to distribute a dividend of EUR 0.33 per share for the 2008 financial year, the first in the company’s history. "By distributing a dividend, we aim to enable our shareholders to participate in the business performance in the past 2008 financial year", commented company CEO, Dr. Heinz Raufer. In addition to the appropriation of profit, shareholders also voted on releasing the Management and Supervisory Boards from responsibility for the financial year, as well as on the election of the auditor for the 2009 financial year.

In his speech, Raufer informed the shareholders present, numbering around 60, about the company’s business performance in the past 2008 financial year and about its current position. Despite the ongoing macroeconomic downturn, AG posted sales of EUR 6.9 million in the first three months of 2009, traditionally the weakest quarter in the travel industry, and thus matched the previous year’s figure. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT), which were affected by investments made in the company’s international expansion, amounted to EUR -1.1 million. "We will continue to invest in accessing interesting growth markets in future as well. Only in this way can we expand our market position and optimally position ourselves for the time after the crisis. On the other hand, we will also be consistently pressing ahead with the measures introduced to optimise processes and reduce costs, so as to enhance our efficiency and thus positively affect our earnings position", commented Raufer. He also confirmed the forecast issued for the 2009 financial year as a whole, namely that the company would match the previous year’s level of sales and report a neutral earnings performance.
