Gold Rill Hotel

In a quiet corner of Grasmere village, overlooking the lake and surrounded by majestic fells, stands the Gold Rill Hotel. The hotel is just 2 minutes walk from the village centre and stands in 1 acre of beautifully tendered gardens which boast and outdoor swimming pool, there is also a private pier on the lake shore.

As evening light fades, the mood in the elegant restaurant changes from light and airey to cosy and warm. Both the food and home cooked food are delightful. Imaginative dishes from the traditional to the more unusual are all created and specials diets can always be catered for. The table d'hote menu is changed daily to suit the availability of fresh local produce and is complimented by an interesting and varied wine list, there is also a small a la carte menu.

En-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities, direct dial telephone, hairdryer, radio and colour tv are standard in every room. Many of the rooms have wonderful views of the surrounding fells and some even have a lake view. The hotel has several ground floor rooms, one of which will easily accommodate a wheelchair.

The hotel has two guest lounges which are spacious and light and have panoramic views of the surrounding fells. On chilly days there is a roaring log fire and a selection of board games or magazines to relax with. Build up your energy for an afternoon's fell walking with a refreshing drink and a tasty bar lunch. In the evening, enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif and freshly made Canapes in the bar.

In addition to the hotel, rooms are also available at Rillside Lodge which is situated just across the gardens from the main hotel building and has private parking for lodge residents. All rooms are decorated to the same high standards as the main hotel.

Grasmere's central position in the Lake District makes it the ideal place from which to explore the whole region, yet some of the most breathtaking scenery and fascinating attractions are right on the door step. There are plenty if maps and information leaflets about local places of interest at the hotel.

The hotel is easily accessable by road or rail, Windermere being the nearest train station, taxi's are available outside the station and the journey to Grasmere takes around 20 minutes. Coming by car from the South, turn off the M6 at J36 and follow the A591 through to Grasmere, turn left onto Red Bank Road, which is opposite St Oswalds Church. The Gold Rill is a little way down on the left. From the North, turn off the M6 at J40 and take the A66 towards Keswick, turn left at the sign for Windermere and Thirlmere and continue on to Grasmere. Turn right into Grasmere Village and follow the road for approximately half a mile until you come to St Oswalds Church, turn right and the hotel is a little way down on the left.
