If you ever visit Kentucky, you simply have to make a trip to Louisville. This historic district of the city is home to remarkable preservations from the Victorian era, and is the largest historically preserved neighborhood of its nature anywhere in the nation. There is much to explore here any time of year, though; not just in the springtime. Every year, the two-week long Kentucky Derby Festival precedes the famous horse race for which it is named. One of the festivals most exciting events is called the Thunder Over Louisville, which is the largest annual firework spectacle in the nation. Another unique attraction is the Adam Matthews Balloon Festival, one of the largest hot air balloon gatherings of its kind in the country that returns to the city every September. And all you baseball enthusiasts out there cant afford to pass up the Louisville Slugger Museum while visiting Kentucky.
